Systematic literature reviews serve the purpose of integrating findings from reports of multiple research studies and thereby build the evidence base for both research and practice.
Although MMLRs encompass a range of approaches, the focus of this chapter is on their potential to contribute to the evidence base for complex social and health interventions. The chapter includes examples illustrating how MMLRs have been applied to synthesize evidence for complex interventions and concludes with a discussion of the challenges involved and suggestions for surmounting them.
